Psalm 31:1 In you, O Lord, I seek refuge; do not let me ever be put to shame; in your righteousness deliver me.
Psalm 46: 7 The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge.
John 16:32b-33 Yet I am not alone because the Father is with me.
Oh, God, my Father, we ask for deliverance from all of this. As I listen to World News it seems that our world is engulfed in evil. ISIS has recently burned a man to death, laughed, and filmed it. A man burst into a theater in Colorado and killed a number of people for no reason at all. Cancer, abductions, theft, aggression, bullying all happen with frequency, or so it seems.
What can we do? How can we escape these evils? The short answer is: we can’t get away from it on our own. Only God can help us. God does not necessarily prevent bad things from happening. What God does is help us to endure, to cope, and to find peace and comfort in the midst of life’s storms.
I prayed fervently that God would take my husband’s cancer from him and make him well again. He died, and I felt bitter that God did not answer my constant prayers. One day I came to the realization that God had healed him by taking him to a place where there is no pain, no sorrow and no death. God was there to comfort me through my family and friends. In time He lead me back to a peaceful place.
